Magazines & Databases

Your library provides you with online access to complete articles from over 10,000 magazines and journals and that's just the beginning. Also available are biographies, reports, pamphlets and additional reference materials. (Your library card number may be required for use.)

General Collection:

MasterFILE Premier: A multidisciplinary database provides full text for more than 2,050 general reference publications with full text information dating as far back as 1975. Covering virtually every subject area of general interest, MasterFILE Premier also includes more than 350 full text reference books, 82,968 biographies, 90,915 primary source documents, and an Image Collection of 107,135 photos, maps and flags. This database is updated daily.
Academic Search Premier: Covers a wide range of academic areas including business, social sciences, humanities, general academic, general science, education and multi-cultural with Academic Search Elite. This comprehensive database features full text for over 1,200 journals with many dating back to 1990, abstracts and indexing for over 3,000 scholarly journals, and coverage of The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times and The Christian Science Monitor. It also includes coverage of over 1,700 peer-reviewed journals.
Middle Search Plus: Provides full text for 80 magazines covering general topics appropriate for middle and jr. high school students. Also includes 1,000 original historical documents including The Bill of Rights, The Consititution, The Federalist Papers, etc.
Primary Search: Provides full text for over 60 children's magazines and over 100 children's pamphlets, designed for the elementary school student. Also includes 1,000 original historical documents including The Bill of Rights, The Consititution, The Federalist Papers, etc. in addition to more than 25,000 articles from Funk and Wagnall's New Encyclopedia.
Fuente Academica: Provides a unique collection of scholarly academic journals from renowned Latin American, South American and Spanish publishers. This database provides full text coverage (including PDF) for more than 200 scholarly Spanish language journals. Content is provided in Spanish from respected publishers worldwide.
TOPICSearch: This current events database allows researchers to explore social, political & economic issues, scientific discoveries and other popular topics discussed in today's classrooms including controversial opinions and viewpoints. Available is the full text for over 102,800 articles from 2,500 diverse sources including international and regional newspapers, periodicals collection, biographies, public opinion polls, book reviews, pamphlets, government information.
MAS Ultra - School Edition: This database includes over 3,000 charts, tables and converted toASCII text; 5,000 full text Magill Book Reviews; full text of 140 Macmillan books; over 540 health and science-related pamphlets in full text; coverage of the CIA World Factbook; and Essential Documents in American History.

Business:

Business Source Premiere: Covers topics such as accounting, banking, finance, international business, management, marketing, real estate, regional studies, sales, trade, and technology. It contains full text for over 925 journals and abstracts for nearly 1600 popular business magazines, scholarly journals, and trade publications.
Regional Business News: This database provides comprehensive full text coverage for regional business publications, covering 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States

Health:

Health Source: Consumer Edition: This database is the richest collection of consumer health information available to libraries worldwide, providing information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Health Source - Consumer Edition features searchable full text for nearly 300 journals. This database is updated on a daily basis.
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition: Medical, nursing, and allied health information for professionals. Provides nearly 540 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines, and abstracts and indexing for over 570 journals.
MEDLINE: National Library of Medicine's index to medical literature. Corresponds to the print indexes Index Medicus, Index to Dental Literature, and International Nursing Index. Includes thousands of records with substantial abstracts.
Alt HealthWatch: This alternative health database provides full text for more than 140 publications in the collection, including full text for many peer-reviewed journals. Alt HealthWatch provides in-depth coverage across the full spectrum of subject areas covered by complementary and alternative medicine dating back to 1990.
MedicLatina: MedicLatina is a Spanish language collection of medical research and investigative journals published by renowned Latin American medical publishers. This unique database provides access to full text for more than 140 peer-reviewed medical journals.

NewsPaper Source: Provides selected full text for nearly 30 national (U.S.) and international newspapers, including USA Today, The Christian Science Monitor, The Washington Post, The Times (London), The Toronto Star, etc. The database also contains selected full text for more than 200 regional (U.S.) newspapers, including The Boston Globe, The Chicago Tribune, The Detroit Free Press, The Miami Herald, The New York Daily News, The San Jose Mercury News, etc. In addition, full text television & radio news transcripts are provided from CBS News, FOX News, NPR, etc. Updated daily.

Additional Topics:

AGRICOLA: Covers the fields of agriculture and the life sciences. Compiled by the U.S. National Agricultural Library (NAL), the database consists of over 2.5 million citations to journal articles, monographs, theses, patents, software, audio-visual materials, and technical reports. The records describe publications and resources encompassing all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines including plant and animal sciences, forestry, entomology, soil and water resources, agricultural economics, agricultural engineering, agricultural products, alternative farming practices, and food and nutrition. Auxiliary subjects that support NAL's Information Center activities, such as agricultural trade and marketing, rural information, and animal welfare are also included in the database.
Computer Source: This database contains nearly 300 full text journals and magazines covering topics such as computer science, programming, artificial intelligence, cybernetics, information systems, robotics, and software. Computer Source provides a balance of full text technical journals and full text consumer computer titles.
ERIC: The Educational Resource Information Center, provides access to education literature and resources. The database provides access to information from journals included in the Current Index of Journals in Education and Resources in Education Index. ERIC provides full text of more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 1,000 educational and education-related journals.
Legal Collection: This database contains full text for more than 260 of the world's most respected, scholarly law journals. The Legal Collection is an authoritative source for information on current issues, studies, thoughts and trends of the legal world.
Military & Government Collection: Designed to offer current news pertaining to all branches of the military and government, this database offers a thorough collection of periodicals, academic journals, and other content pertinent to the increasing needs of those sites. The Military & Government Collection provides cover-to-cover full text for nearly 400 journals and periodicals and indexing and abstracts for more than 500 titles.
Professional Development: Designed for professional educators, this database provides a highly specialized collection of more than 750 full text journals, including more than 350 peer-reviewed titles. Professional Development Collection is the most comprehensive collection of full text education journals in the world.
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection: American Psychological Association's comprehensive international bibliographic database of psychology. It contains citations and summaries of peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, books, dissertations, and technical reports in the field of psychology and related fields.
Religion and Philosophy Collection: This database provides extensive coverage of such topics as world religions, major denominations, biblical studies, religious history, epistemology, political philosophy, philosophy of language, moral philosophy and the history of philosophy. Religion & Philosophy Collection offers more than 300 full text journals, including more than 250 peer-reviewed titles, making it an essential tool for researchers and students of theology and philosophical studies.
Vocational and Career Collection: This collection provides full text coverage for 400 trade and industry related periodicals. In addition to the full text, indexing and abstracts are provided for 650 journals.
